ABOUT THE LION KING:

An unforgettable story, breathtaking animation, beloved characters and award-winning music sets the stage for “The Lion King”, a Disney classic that follows the adventures of Simba, the feisty lion cub who “just can't wait to be king.” But his envious Uncle Scar has plans for his own ascent to the throne, and he forces Simba's exile from the kingdom. From the moment that Lion King starts with The Circle of Life playing to the moment that the credits ends I think I am so engrossed in this movie.  The character design is amazing, the music is phenomenal and the story is fun and heartwarming as well as sad and tear jerking.  I love the characters of Timon and Pumba and how they are such unlikely friends for a Lion, but they see that Simba is in such a need of a friend that they all become such good friends.  This movie teaches about not running away from your past even if its hard.  It teaches of the importance of family our the animal pride and how they all rely on each other.   We can also learn that you need to be true to who you are.  Simba becomes king but because he has fears of what he did wrong he feels like he needs to run away and forget who he really is.  In the end he learns how important to remember who he is because the other animals really depend on him.

I love Rafiki.  I think that his charachter is so perfect and so profound.  I love when he says, "Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it."  I know that we all have hard days, make bad choices and have regrets, but it is so important that we take Rafiki's advice and learn from the past instead of running from it.  It will makes us better in the end.

This movie has so much heart.  It is a great story of friendship, love and becoming our best selves.  I think it is such a great movie to watch with our children because they can truly learn the importance of loving ourselves for who we are.  I mean hey,  all you have to remember is,  Hakuna Matata.  It means no worries.  For the rest of our days.
