See that tiger? Yeah, its not real. Its called CGI. #Oscars2013 #TheLifeofPi #RhythmandHues

Let's talk about The Life Of Pi for a minute.  If you tuned in to the Oscar's last night, you know that the film received some well deserved awards.  Best director, best visual effects, best cinematography, best score.  These awards are well deserved in every way, and I am not down playing the importance of any single person in this movie.  This movie was incredible.  The story, the characters, the visual effects, it was all incredible.  Which is exactly why it won these awards.  It takes so many talented people to make a movie.  In front of the camera and behind the scenes.

Let us just take a moment to remember those behind the scenes that were not adequately remembered at the Oscars and give them the credit that they DESERVE.  Their thirty seconds, without the JAWS theme song forcing them out of their deserved moment.

Here is a reminder of the incredibly talented Visual Effects Artists and the work that they do to make a movie amazing.

Do I really need to continue?

Seriously, it doesn't matter how incredible the actor is.  Without Visual Effects.  The Life of Pi is just a boy sitting in a boat in a tank of water.  Have fun watching that for two hours.

We are forever grateful for Rhythm and Hues.  The work done at that studio is phenomenal.  The talent behind making The Life of Pi and other Rhythm and Hues movies is apparent in the success of the films and the awards that they receive.  Again, I am not down-playing the importance of the actors.  I respect them and love watching their talents on screen, but the behind the scenes artists are EQUALLY as important and EQUALLY as talented.

They deserve a piece of the Pi.

Our hearts go out to Rhythm and Hues and their current and former employees.

  8. I haven't seen the movie yet but I'm always amazed with visual effects and how real they appear. Honestly, it's hard to tell the different today, which is totally the point, right? You're right that actors are amazing but the story wouldn't be told without the visual effects.
